ESTERO, Fla. (January 22, 2020) - Miromar Outlets presented a $3,640 check to the Lee County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol on January 21, recognizing the volunteers for their ongoing support. The Mounted Patrol has saddled up to escort Miromar Outlets’ shoppers every year for over a decade during the holiday shopping season.

Kecia Angelo and Jeanne Shadduck, Mounted Patrol volunteers, accepted the check from Miromar Outlets Vice President Jeff Staner as part of the shopping center’s annual tradition.

“Having the extra security brings peace of mind to our shoppers and business owners during the busiest time of the year for shopping,” said Staner. “We really appreciate the work and support of the Lee County Sheriff’s Mounted Patrol.”

Accompanying Shadduck is Rocket, a 9-year-old painted quarter horse who’s patrolled Miromar Outlets for several years. Angelo owns 9-year-old Fred, a Percheron-Friesian rescue who galloped his way into the group only two years ago.

The Lee County Mounted Patrol is comprised of volunteers and their personal horses that are qualified and trained by the Lee County Sheriff’s Office in community policing procedures including crowd and traffic control. Training is paid through donations, like the one given by Miromar Outlets, and the volunteers transport the horses at their own expense.
